This post is dedicated to natural hair appreciation, and to all the girls who are going down this road. It’s not easy, you know? The hardest part of this for me was making the decision to cut my hair. I loved my long hair, absolutely adored it, too, believe me, but I saw the natural hair journey as a new challenge, and I loved the entire idea of it. I cut my hair last May. That was the beginning of my natural hair journey. I used a lot of Nature’s Gentle Touch products, and I rocked my afro a lot after cutting my hair.
Shrinkage is normal. It happens when your hair is exposed to moisture, especially after washing. Everyone going through this, don’t be confused. Keep calm, and be rest assured, your hair IS growing.
Here are some tips to facilitate hair growth:
• Keep your hair moisturized: Moisture is key to hair care and hair growth. You can do this by washing regularly, or by using a good hair moisturizer.
• Make sure your hair is clean: Do not leave your weaves, braids, or other protective styles on for more than two months. This leads to the formation of dirt clusters on your scalp. This blocks your pores and therefore prevents hair growth. Also, wash your hair regularly.
• When washing your hair, it’s advisable to use warm water first to wash. This helps to remove all product residue from your hair. Rinse with cold water, as this helps to lock in moisture.
• Trim the ends of your hair regularly to deal with split ends.
• Feed your hair with natural oils- tea tree, jojoba, coconut, olive, castor. These oils all serve specific functions to help your hair.
• Also, whenever possible, replace your store bought deep conditioner with eggs and/or mayonnaise. Use these as you would use your deep conditioner.

• Use protective styles, especially in the winter/harmattan period.
• Do not jump directly from one protective style to another. Give your ‘fro time to breathe.
You’re welcome, glad I could help.
