Moving On

You know, when you’ve been in love with a person for a long time, and then maybe you break up or fall out for whatever reason, you stop talking for a while. And every time you do talk to them after that, it’s a flurry of memories and butterflies in your belly and you want them back and you miss them and you’re back in your feelings. You know deep within yourself that you’ve not moved on. You fall back and give yourself time again. Rinse and repeat.

Time passes and things change, however.

You’re bored and decide to hit them up, or their text arrives out of the blue. You talk for a while. They mention something, or call you a name that used to mean something, and the memories come flooding, and there must be a little mist in your eyes or a tiny smile, but there’s a difference now.

There are no butterflies this time. You’re not yearning to be with them anymore. Your heart doesn’t want to claw and grovel and beg for their love. You’re just fine with however and whenever the conversation ends, because you know deep within yourself that you’ll be okay. You’re happy now. This is how you know that you’ve moved on. 💙

Hi there!

My name is Ru, or Oyinda. I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember, and my love for books has only grown stronger over the years. There’s something so special about getting lost in a story and then sharing those thoughts with others. On this blog, you’ll find book reviews, honest (and sometimes rambling!) bookish thoughts, recommendations across different genres, and many more for fellow book lovers. Whether you’re searching for your next read or just want to chat about books, you’re in the right place.
