19

It’s my 19th birthday today and I kind of feel I’m not ready to get older but then I get older every other day, and this is just like a landmark, I guess. I’m happy, I’m thankful but at the same time I kinda wish I can freeze time lol. I really don’t want to get older.

I’m grateful for everything I’ve had to go through – the good, the bad, and the ugly because they all shaped me into the woman I am today and I know that lots of stuff will still happen and I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle them, but I hope I will be. I’m thankful for the people I’ve met and everything that has transpired between me and each and every one of them.

I’ve been hurt so many times and every time I thought I would never get over it but then I learnt to be stronger and be content in my own company. I did a lot of growing up from 17-18 and I’m super thankful for that. I still have my low moments and bouts of depression but I know I’ve come a long way from being an emotional mess.

I’ve been using the words “thankful” and “grateful” a lot but tbh, that’s all I’m feeling. I’ve overcome my pain and I know there’s real life waiting for me and I still have so much to deal with. I know that with God and the wonderful people I have around me, I will.

I have almost everything – a loving family, an amazing boyfriend, wonderful friends, money (lol still working hard towards this). But two things are seriously lagging behind and I need to fix up this year – school and an active relationship with the Lord. I hope God gives me the strength to work on them, especially the second.

My 20th year is for me and my coins and working towards graduation and building a stable relationship with God.

So help me God.

Happy birthday, Oyindamola.

Hi there!

My name is Ru, or Oyinda. I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember, and my love for books has only grown stronger over the years. There’s something so special about getting lost in a story and then sharing those thoughts with others. On this blog, you’ll find book reviews, honest (and sometimes rambling!) bookish thoughts, recommendations across different genres, and many more for fellow book lovers. Whether you’re searching for your next read or just want to chat about books, you’re in the right place.
