It was my friend, Jireh’s birthday today, and we decided to meet up at Ikeja City Mall and have fun and all the works. I was actually glad we chose ICM because I had been looking for an opportunity to try Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (they recently opened up their first branch in Nigeria).
I got there very early, before everyone else, and walked around for a bit before making my way to Krispy Kreme. The space was really neat and well designed. I had no idea I would be writing a post about it so I did not take any pictures. The main dining area has very nice wood flooring, and their furniture is impressive. The dining area is separated from the kitchen by a huge glass window that gives customers the chance to see the creation process of the Original Glazed Doughnut. The staff was very nice, warm, and helpful. I had no idea what coffee to order, and one of the ladies helped me out (I loved it, BTW).
I decided to order just one doughnut first, to hold belle. They have 16 options available – the Original GlazedTM , which is 450 naira; three gourmet doughnut options for 650 naira each, and twelve other doughnut flavors for 550 naira each. I ordered the “Red Velvet Cake” for 550 naira, and sat to eat.

Red Velvet Cake Doughnut
It was delicious but a tad too sugary. I couldn’t even finish it because I did not think my body could handle that much sugar. Halfway through the doughnut, I went to place an order for one of their coffees (which are available either hot or iced).
I wanted to get the “espresso” because it was the cheapest and I did not want to spend all my money before the people I was waiting for got there. One of the ladies at the counter explained to me, however, that the espresso was just plain black coffee (bush girl alert!) and that I should opt for the latte or cappuccino. I got the iced latte, for just 1,000 naira, and my oh my, was it delicious. It was milky and creamy and topped with cream and a caramel drizzle. She also asked for my name and put it on the cup, like they do in all those oyinbo movies. LOL.

The coffee. Best thing.
When I was done, I left and came back later in the day when my friends arrived. In the afternoon, I got the Original Glazed and the Cookies and Crème. The Original Glazed was heavenlyyyyyy OMGGGG. It tasted so good and IMO, just the right amount of sugar. The Cookies and Crème however, was basically the Original without the Glaze and an iced cookies and cream topping which was too sugary for me. I had to remove it all at some point.
It was a wonderful experience and my stomach had a great time. I’ll go back before going to Ilorin if I have the chance, and sample more doughnut flavors.
