Google’s Fundamentals of Digital Marketing Course – All You Need to Know

I recently developed an interest in online courses and online certifications. My search for free online courses with certifications (keyword “free” bc I’m broke LOL) led me to Google’s Google Digital Garage, a hub of free courses offered by Google to boost your CV/ resume/ LinkedIn profile and make you more attractive to potential employers.

I did the first course, “Intro to digital wellbeing“, and was waiting for a certificate, but that was not a certificate course. The only course with certification they offer is the “Fundamentals of digital marketing” course, and let me tell you, it’s very long and strenuous. What I love about it is that they tried as much as possible to make the short quizzes at the end of every chapter fun by relating to a person/real life experience with fun graphics. They used characters with real life business and real life problems with you’d solve by applying the knowledge you just learnt in that chapter.

The Course Breakdown

The entire course has 26 modules (grouped into different sections), and each module has chapters (ranging from 3-6 chapters). Each chapter is presented as a video, and if you don’t want to watch the video, you can just read the transcript, and proceed to “Test Your Knowledge”, where you’re presented with a short problem and you choose the solution.

Modules, Groups, and Chapters

There’s a quiz at the end of every chapter. Every chapter has a different type of quiz.

After you pass all the chapters in a module, you’ll proceed to the end of topic quiz. There, you’ll be presented with 3-7 questions relating to everything you learned in the module. Once you’re able to pass all of those, you’ll be rewarded with a badge for that topic.

The Exam

Unlock all 26 badges, and you can take the final exam to earn your certificate. If you hate normal IRL exams, this one is no different LMAO. My heart kept doing gbim gbim. The exam consists of 40 questions and you’re required to get at least 32 correctly (80%) in order to get the certificate. I got exactly 80% LOL. The questions are just like the end of topic quizzes, and some of them are even the same things. Each question has 4 options, A-D. It was exciting and thrilling, TBH. If you fail, you’ll have to wait a while to retake it but IDK how long – maybe a couple of weeks or months.

I screamed when I passed LMAO

You get to study at your own pace

That’s another amazing thing about this course. You get to study when and how you want. You don’t even have to do the chapters accordingly. I was clicking and doing them from the list however I wanted. If you don’t even want to take the individual quizzes at the end of the chapters, you can skip to the quiz. If you pass, you get the badge. If you fail, you have to do each chapter before you can retake the quiz again.

You can do it at any time of day, any day of the week, and for as long as you want. It took me 6 days – Thursday to Wednesday, and I was only doing it when I was at work. You can finish it realistically in 3-4 days, or as long as a month, even longer. It’s up to you.

My Certificate

Hi there!

My name is Ru, or Oyinda. I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember, and my love for books has only grown stronger over the years. There’s something so special about getting lost in a story and then sharing those thoughts with others. On this blog, you’ll find book reviews, honest (and sometimes rambling!) bookish thoughts, recommendations across different genres, and many more for fellow book lovers. Whether you’re searching for your next read or just want to chat about books, you’re in the right place.
