I picked up “Children of Blood and Bone” and for the first time in almost three years, if not more, I became the reader I used to be. The book captured every part of my soul. It was unlike anything I’ve read in a long time.
It ended up the first full length novel I’d read in three years, and I gobbled it up in less than thirty six hours. All 500+ pages of it. As soon as I finished the first book, I moved on to “Children of Virtue and Vengeance”. I finished that in less than 24 hours. It was shorter, about 400 pages, but it didn’t mean it was less thrilling.
For someone who had to go to work and also do chores within that time, it’s a huge feat for me. Coupled with the fact that I haven’t been able to make myself read in years, I carry yansh for Tomi Adeyemi. She finished work, abeg.
I’m not here to write a review or anything, I’m just happy to tell the world that I finished two books in three days and I’m excited to read more. This is a great start to 2020 for me and with great books like those two, I can definitely smash my goal for the month to read 5 and go on to read 50 in 2020.
Back to the book, omooooo, it was everything. I was carrying my tab everywhere no matter what I was doing. In the kitchen, in the bedroom, in the bathroom, it didn’t matter. I couldn’t tear myself from Tomi’s words. It was like the first time I read a CNA book.
I got tons of Nigerian books to read, and I can’t wait to get started on them because lately, those are the only ones appealing to me. If you have any good Nigerian book suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
Here’s to reading 50 books in 2020 (hopefully).
