Lockdown Report: How I Spent My 5 Weeks

This is my 5th post of the year, and this is May. 😂 For context, May is the 5th month of the year. It’s been like 124 or so days in 2020 but I’ve not even been able to conjure up to 6 posts for this blog.

Strangely enough, I’ve been getting views and visits every single day. Apparently, some old posts are doing very well on Google Searches (humble brag moment)!

I didn’t even know what this post would be about when I started typing but I just wanted to write something. Let me discuss my lockdown experience, plans, and fails (because I’m part of the “lockdown is not a productivity contest” geng).

Lockdown/ stay at home/ work from home started for me on the 27th of March (a Friday), then daddy bubu came and gave us 5 weeks in small installments. My plan was to explore my creativity to the max – write and draw to my heart’s content. But here we are. I didn’t write anything, I didn’t draw anything. And to everyone else who didn’t do what they planned to during the lockdown, it’s okay.

I spent a huge chunk of the lockdown period working. It was and still is unbelievable. I worked from home even more than I ever worked at the office. 12-13 hour work days, even on the weekends. Working from home really blurs resumption and closing times. It was really tiring for me because there was always something I was supposed to be doing.

Another plan I had for lockdown was to read very many books. Before the start of April, I had read 41 books. I spent the entirety of April at home, so I thought I’d read like 30 books. LOL! I had no idea the type of workload that was about to fall on me. My tab screen also broke, so there’s that. I was able to read 2 books towards the end of April, though so. 🙂

I guess, (I may be trying to make myself feel better here, buuutttt), it’s okay not to tick off every item on your to-do list.

Anyhooooo, how is the lockdown treating you? Are you an essential worker and as such didn’t get any time off work? What did you do with your time off (non essential workers, students, etc etc). Lmk in the comments.

Stay safe and continue to practice social distancing and COVID-19 prevention measures. I love you. ❤️✨

Hi there!

My name is Ru, or Oyinda. I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember, and my love for books has only grown stronger over the years. There’s something so special about getting lost in a story and then sharing those thoughts with others. On this blog, you’ll find book reviews, honest (and sometimes rambling!) bookish thoughts, recommendations across different genres, and many more for fellow book lovers. Whether you’re searching for your next read or just want to chat about books, you’re in the right place.
