I really enjoyed this book and the narrator did a great job. I enjoyed the female friendships, family love, and the romance. It’s part of a 5-book series, and it’s the second book. It’s the first one I’m reading, and I love that it worlds great as a standalone.

The premise is actually very unique and I loved reading how Nik and Carlos developed a relationship from how they met at the stadium. Here’s the rundown – Nik’s boyfriend of 5 months decided to propose to her at a baseball game in front of thousands of people, and he doesn’t even know how to spell her name. She says no, and it becomes a viral moment. When she’s bombarded by paparazzi on her way out of the stadium, Carlos and his sister come to her rescue and help her make her way out of the stadium. That’s how they meet and slowly over a couple of days, they connect.

Nik and Carlos both have their lives and individual issues to deal with, and all of these issues factor into their relationship and how it progresses during the course of the book. We’re introduced to Nik’s girl group of friends and Carlos’ family.

There are so many elements that make this book work, and it’s an absolute gem. This is a 4-star and not a 5 for me, because I have a problem with some of the dialogue in the book. In summary, it’s a fun lighthearted romance book.

Blurb/Synopsis:

The best-selling author of The Wedding Date serves up a novel about what happens when a public proposal doesn’t turn into a happy ending, thanks to a woman who knows exactly how to make one on her own….

When someone asks you to spend your life with him, it shouldn’t come as a surprise – or happen in front of 45,000 people.

When freelance writer Nikole Paterson goes to a Dodgers game with her actor boyfriend, his man bun, and his bros, the last thing she expects is a scoreboard proposal. Saying no isn’t the hard part – they’ve only been dating for five months, and he can’t even spell her name correctly. The hard part is having to face a stadium full of disappointed fans….

At the game with his sister, Carlos Ibarra comes to Nik’s rescue and rushes her away from a camera crew. He’s even there for her when the video goes viral and Nik’s social media blows up – in a bad way. Nik knows that in the wilds of LA, a handsome doctor like Carlos can’t be looking for anything serious, so she embarks on an epic rebound with him, filled with food, fun, and fantastic sex. But when their glorified hookups start breaking the rules, one of them has to be smart enough to put on the brakes….
