I thoroughly enjoyed Skyhunter, and I can’t wait for Book 2. There was a part in the end that I totally predicted in the early parts of the book, but that didn’t take away from how fun and amazing this book was. I really enjoyed the characters, the action, the plot, the writing, and the narration.

Skyhunter follows Talin, a girl who hasn’t spoken since a tragic event made her and her mother leave their hometown and make their way to a classist city. This city remains the only one still fighting the Federation, and Talin finds her way to the ranks of soldiers. After the death of her partner, Talin is on the brink of losing her soldier status when she is paired with a new partner she’s sure will be the end of her. However, this new partner comes with surprises no one expects, and they might just have a fighting chance after all.

🤖

The worldbuilding was superb and not too complicated, so it was easy to follow along and understand the structures and hierarchies that made up the world in the book. The characters were awesome and even though there were some despicable ones, I enjoyed and loved the good guys because they were well written, and even the big bad in the book was well written so he was intriguing.

🤖

The audiobook narrator was an awesome fit for this book, and she did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life.

🤖

While the ending seemed bleak, I am very hopeful for Book 2 because Talin, her mom, and her friends have proven that they are resourceful enough to make the most of what little they have.

The Book

A broken world.

An overwhelming evil.

A team of warriors ready to strike back.

#1 New York Times-bestselling author Marie Lu is back with an adrenaline-laced novel about the lengths one warrior will go to fight for freedom and those she loves.

Talin is a Striker, a member of an elite fighting force that stands as the last defense for the only free nation in the world: Mara.

A refugee, Talin knows firsthand the horrors of the Federation, a world-dominating war machine responsible for destroying nation after nation with its terrifying army of mutant beasts known only as Ghosts.

But when a mysterious prisoner is brought from the front to Mara’s capital, Talin senses there’s more to him than meets the eye. Is he a spy from the Federation? What secrets is he hiding?

Only one thing is clear: Talin is ready to fight to the death alongside her fellow Strikers for the only homeland she has left . . . with or without the boy who might just be the weapon to save―or destroy―them all.

Loyalty is life.
